three ways to make studying more fun

un) make color coordinating flashcards and secure them with colorful rubber bands! bonus points if you add stickers. puffy, asian stickers.

deux) sing your notes. pick songs that are easy to sing loudly, with passion. it especially works if you are sitting outside, and your neighbors stare at you.

trois) grab a bag of chocolate chips, and your notes. for every point/question you get understand fully, eat one chocolate chip. the goal is to either learn all of your notes, finish the bag of chocolate chips, or both.

old

I am obsessed with Moschino s/s 09. It's gorgeousss.

Also, have a quote:

"Yes, some people say to me you`re too skinny, but never a skinny person says that to me, only people who could lose a few pounds say that."
-with love from uncle Karl

Transitioning into spring

Yeah, it's getting warmer, which means we're going to have to trade our jeans for shorts, sweaters for T-shirts and boots for sandals! I love spring, and I think it's the best time of year, in terms of fashion. It's the season for full, floaty skirts, airy tops, long necklaces and floral everything! Shopping will be necessary for me soon, so I sat down and thought about what I would need for the new season. The easiest way for me to do this is to conjure imaginary outfits out of dream clothes!

Here are some ideas, courtesy of my brain!

-Start off with brightly colored denim shorts, add layered tank tops in different colors, and top it all off with a floppy hat and wedge sandals.

-Denim can still be worn! Choose a lighter wash with a relaxed fit(no distressing, please!). Pull on a cute tee and a cropped jacket, tie your hair into a messy bun and enjoy!

-Full skirts are my true love, so there's no way they're escaping this post. Pair a printed one with a short-sleeved cardigan and lots of long necklaces. Extra mascara will add girlish charm. ;)

-If you're going to go the romper route (all the rage this season, ya know), do me a favor and add a brightly colored belt.

-April showers bring may flowers, so goes the old saying. What about those rainy, gloomy days? Match your clothes to the weather in a grey raincoat, hounds tooth rain boots and a matching umbrella! Or, if you're bolder, go for a printed bikini with a white T-shirt dress over it!

-Go barefoot with a floral sundress. Add a smile.

story of my life

Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Alice: How do you know I'm mad?
The Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here.
Alice: And how do you know that you're mad?
The Cat: To begin with, a dog's not mad. You grant that?
Alice: I suppose so,
The Cat: Well, then, you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.

Lakshmi Menon

My new favorite model. The fact that she's Indian (from Bangalore, where my parents are from!) has nothing to do with it, of course.

Plus, she's in the latest Givenchy ad. (Givenchy happens to be doing a "Sari Collection" inspired by India.)

Love x10!

Lip love

I was browsing our local Super Target yesterday and remembered that I wanted to check out the CoverGirl lip stains. Sadly, there were only two left, and in colors that I knew would not flatter me. Also, they were smaller than I pictured them. Still, they might be good products. Has anyone tried them? Let me know if they're work buying somewhere else.

My favorite gloss is probably Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss. It's pretty sheer, but it gives lips a nice shine and it smells like oranges! I first got them when my mother decided that I should be using all natural products on my lips. After all, you're pretty much eating the product off (yes, that's where it goes). I was pleasantly surprised, because I expected it to be a mediocre product. Before, I used the Liplicious line from Bath and Body Works, but now I can't stand the artificial taste and scent. I guess I've converted to a Burt's Bees addict!

Kate Hudson's Pucci Dress

While casually browsing Style.com, I noticed an article called "Ten Best Dressed." Number two on the list was Kate Hudson in an Emilio Pucci mini dress and Sergio Rossi shoes. But then, I saw the same picture on Yahoo OMG! 's "What Were They Thinking?!" list. Under it it said, "Kate Hudson looked like a gift-wrapped wreck in this Emilio Pucci multi-colored mini while visiting 'Late Show with David Letterman.'"

I'm not sure who has better judgement on this one, but I think style.com has more credibility than Yahoo OMG!. Personally, while I don't like the dress itself much, I think she styled it pretty well.

What do you think? Is it cute or ugly?

2009!

It's the new year! Like many people, I have some goals for the new year! However, mine are style resolutions.

  • Start posting outfit photos. I finally got a full length mirror yesterday, so I can start now. Oh, and I'm now a member of Chictopia, so if you want a referral, just ask!
  • On that note, I'd also like to start a scrapbook of sorts (real, not the internet) to document my outfits, and inspiration I find in magazines and other places. I'm always ripping things out of magazines, and leaving papers everywhere, but if I'm more organized, they might actually be useful.
  • Wear the things in my closet that I haven't worn in a long time. I already went through my closet and got rid of all the clothes that don't fit/are not fit to wear, so all that is left are the clothes that I like, but never get around to wearing. I'm going to attempt to work them into my outfits!
